Smart hardware and IoT startup Showmac Tech has banked circa 100 million yuan (approximately $15 million) – in a Series A+ Round led by venture capital firm Addor Capital and partecipated by GGV Capital and Hongtai Aplus. The company has built its fortune on proposing eSIMs as the cornerstone of a new IoT infrastructure that directly connects service providers with IoT devices. Xiaomi, which has made a name of itself as one of the world’s greatest innovation hubs, funded Showmac’s angel round in 2017, making the its main eSIM supplier. It all started as a pilot project – an MVP, with Showmac supplying eSIMs to Xiaomi’s ECO-chain. As soon as it proved its viability, Showmac set up an entity to expand the business. Nowadays, the company is a supplier of shared good businesses, such as Luckin’s shared coffee mugs and bike sharing startups. IoT esim provider Showmac has powered over 10 million IoT devices, 30% of which are affiliated with Xiaomi. All in all, it is best described as a connectivity solutions provider for IoT applications.
Its chief offering, the eSIM communication module, works across major carriers and supports 2G, 4G, and NB-IoT connections. On top of that, Showmac offers a connectivity and device management platform for IoT connection service providers and equipment manufacturers. Features include

“We believe cellular communication will become a mainstream trend in the era of IoT” said Lily Liu, founder and chief executive of IoT esim provider Showmac, during an interview with TechCrunch. “WiFi works only when it’s connected to a small number of devices, but when the number increases dramatically it becomes unreliable.” According to Lily Liu, Showmac’s solution can be seamlessly integrated in any company’s software stack, as it functions as a software development kit (SDK).
